Guillermo Cantú, Director General de Selecciones Nacionales y el Lic. Decio de María Serrano, Secretario General de la Federación Mexicana de Fútbol, anunciaron el sabado 13 de mayo en conferencia de prensa en la sede del Organismo, la lista definitiva de jugadores de la Selección Mexicana que estarán en Alemania 2006.

Los tres jugadores que causaron baja son: Joel Huiqui, Israel López y Jaime Lozano.
Guillermo Cantú señaló: “La decisión de tener la lista final fue complicada, hubo que evaluar muchas cosas, no fue sencillo, por que los sentimientos forman parte de esto, entiendo lo que pueden sentir los tres jugadores que causaron baja, espero que esto lo puedan digerir lo antes posible y poder contar con ellos como apoyo en el Mundial”
El titular de Selecciones informó que los tres jugadores que quedaron fuera de la lista definitiva, fueron invitados por el Cuerpo Técnico para asistir al Mundial.
Cantú señaló que el grupo está unido y todos querían que se quedaran los 26 seleccionados:
“Ningún jugador quería que saliera nadie, pero tenemos que entregar la lista de 23 seleccionados a FIFA. No es nada fácil dejar a tres jóvenes fuera de un proceso final, estando la competencia tan cerca, pero tenemos a un gran técnico y para eso lo tenemos para que tome esas decisiones”
Cantú señaló que el próximo lunes, se estará enviando a lista a FIFA y señaló las actividades del tricolor para el último mes:
“La Selección se concentrará a partir del lunes ya con Borgetti, y trabajara en dos sesiones diarias. El sábado 20 de mayo por la noche partiremos a Europa, antes de eso se realizará una misa en la Basílica de Guadalupe.
El domingo 21 por la noche, estaremos llegando a Francia y se pretende que para el martes 22 se integre Guillermo Franco, quien hoy termina una parte de su rehabilitación y continuará con trabajos de fortalecimiento.
El 27 de mayo enfrentaremos en Paris a Francia, un día después partimos a Holanda, para jugar en Eindhoven el 1 de junio. Al día siguiente viajaremos a la sede en Gottingën, donde enfrentaremos a una selección local, e inmediatamente después de eso nos concentraremos para encarar a Irán”
Por su parte, el Lic. Decio de María, invitó a los medios de difusión a enfocarse en lo que es más importante: “apoyemos a que este grupo que hoy se definió, termine su preparación, salga a Europa y podamos gozar de un Mundial para el cual nos hemos venido preparando los tres últimos años”
